About Me

This isn’t a technical blog. Meaning I won’t post code snips and tutorials on how to integrate Google Guice with Dropwizard, etc. etc. There’s enough resources out there for that.

This is more of a career and life blog. I want people to read it and get some value from it. These are my opinions, based on my experiences. Maybe they’re similar to your own. Maybe I’ve learned a hard lesson, and you can benefit from that experience without the pain.

Software is my second career. I went to college after being in the military (and a dozen other jobs). I majored in computer systems engineering because I was curious about how computers worked. Since graduating I’ve worked in enterprise software development for non-tech companies and in product development for tech-companies.

Here’s my “thing” (because every blog has a thing). There are a lot of people in our industry who are wicked smart and well-connected. As much as it pains me to say this, I am not one of those people. What I lack in natural talent I’ve tried to make up for with dedication and hard work. There are others like me out there and I’m blogging for them. When you feel like you’re going at a career in this industry on your own, maybe you’ll get some help here. I hope so.
